Unit Introduction and What You Will Learn
Week eight is synchronous with having class on Saturday (10/18/25) for SOWK 590. Students continue to work at the practicum and will submit their weekly journal. We will have the following agenda:
- SLED: Intersectionality and Identity
- Mindfulness activity
- Practice Learning Reflection Group
The learning objectives this week include:
- Students consider intersectionality and identity, and how these concepts relate to their practice.
- Students will actively practice a mindfulness activity.
- Students will recognize the shared experiences of their peers in the practicum and be able to utilize the group as a method for sharing and problem-solving.
- Students will analyze their practicum experience, reflecting on how it connects to their development and demonstration of competence.

Weekly Reflective Journals
Complete the W-08 A-02 Weekly Reflective Journals due before Monday 10/20, 8:00 AM.
Monthly Hour Log
The end of the month. At your next supervision session, you should be thinking about reviewing your hours with your supervisor. Find 09 - September Monthly Practicum Hours Log which is due before Wednesday 10/15, 8:00 AM.
Midcourse Feedback
For assessment purposes I put both this and your 595 classes together. It is time to submit your midcourse feecback. You can find it on the left sidebar of MyHeritage or by going to - SOWK 590 Survey and SOWK 595 Survey. Please complete all of the feedback for all of your courses. For the 590 think about our time in class. For 595 you can think about the site visit and practicum.
