Even with sharing a video, this week feels like week one for us. Excited to see you all for class today.
Program evaluation is an ethical obligation to us as social workers, but also beneficial to staff, agencies, and clients. During week two of this course, we will focus on the why of program evaluation and an overview of the evaluative process. We will also pick our learning teams for the program evaluation you will conduct this semester. The following is the agenda for the class session:
Read
A-01: Class Engagement and Attendance
Attend Class
A-02: Chapter Reading Quiz
Complete the reading quiz, W-02 A-02 Chapters Reading Quiz Royse (2022) Chapters 1 and 2 by Sunday 2/2.
During class, we will relate the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) code of ethics and section 5.02 Evaluation and Research to doing program evaluation. This can be found in the NASW Code of Ethics: Ethical Standards - 5. Social Workers’ Ethical Responsibilities to the Social Work Profession. We will reading Holden and Barker (2018) paper which offers a list practices that seem like they are outside of what a social workers practice is.
All of the presentations for this class can be found at https://presentations.jacobrcampbell.com. This week’s slides are SOWk 460w Spring 2025 Week 02 - Steps in Program Evaluation.
I post all of the lecture videos in MyHeritage so you can view them. You can find this weeks at [Spring 2025 SOWK 460w - Week 02]().
