MyHeritage Syllabus Presentations Emails

Sorry to get this out to you all a bit later than I hoped. See you on Saturday.

Unit Introduction and What You Will Learn

Week 12 is synchronous, with class taking place on Saturday (4/11). Students read from Kirst-Ashman and Hull (2018) on ethical decision-making and the application of ethics to macro practice. There are forums for students to engage with textbook content and consider the code of ethics. Plans for the in-class session will be added closer to the session.

W-12 A-01: Asynchronous Participation and Engagement

Sorry to get these developed later. On Monday, I prioritized finishing feedback on your papers. I have now provided feedback on everybody’s papers. Please review the teacher feedback I provided and the actual paper you submitted (I re-uploaded it to the assignment). I made edits and comments on your papers. I don’t always do that, but especially when it is the first paper I have graded from a student I like to show you at least what is working or not working, so you can make corrections the next time. It is time-consuming, but I hope it is helpful. If you submitted a PDF, I have gone and handwritten on it… While this works, I try to include the feedback in the form as well (since my handwriting isn’t as good and I can’t provide the links and further information I do in typed comments in a Word document). I do prefer a word submission and all of you have free access to all the Microsoft apps.

For the forums, the expectation is that each of your replies will be substantive and provide meaningful perspectives, contributing to the forum’s conversation and scholarship. They can be related to the prompts or building on conversations shared by peers. There are three forums for this week, and you are expected to make at least 3 2 replies across any of the forums and read all of your peers’ replies. These forums include the following:

Unit Resources

You can listen to a podcast episode for this week’s reading Chapter 12: Ethics and Ethical Dilemmas in Practice with Organizations and Communities, or see the entire series Podcast Series.

I’ll upload the slides.

In the forums I encourage students to read the current version of the code of ethics (National Association of Social Workers, 2021).

The Lecture Videos tab in the MyHeritage course is where you will be able to find class recordings. The video this week is at [Spring 2026 SOWK 531 Week 12]().
