  • Students will actively practice a mindfulness activity.
  • Students will recognize their peers’ shared experiences in the practicum and use the group as a method for sharing and problem-solving.
  • Students will analyze their practicum experience, reflecting on how it connects to their development and demonstration of competence.

Unit Assignments

Student-Led Discussion

For the two who signed up for this week, Cultural Competence in Practice, please come prepared to facilitate this discussion on Saturday. During the first week of class, we planned to review Community Organizing & Activism this week, but one of the groups asked to switch.

Weekly Reflective Journals

Submit your W-11 A-02 Weekly Reflective Journals in the ELC by Monday 11/9, 8:00 AM.

Monthly Hour Log

The end of the month. At your next supervision session, you should be thinking about reviewing your hours with your supervisor. Submit your 10 - October Monthly Practicum Hours Log in the ELC before Sunday 11/15, 5:00 PM.

Unit Resources

Harborview Abuse & Trauma Center has their CBT + NOTEBOOK. We are going to do an activity tangentially related to the turtle technique that they offer for our mindfulness activity during class. I’m pairing this activity with a coloring exercise that we will be doing. If you are interested in an interesting literature review related to art-based mindfulness and its impact on anxiety, Zhu et al. (2025) is somewhere you could start. You can find the article and Turtle Technique with Coloring Mandala as an attached handout.

The Lecture Videos tab in the MyHeritage course is where you will be able to find class recordings.
